The Chanel Kelly Bag is back for 2023
All eyes are on the Kelly Bag, but not the iconic Hermès Kelly Bag which may first spring to mind. As part of their 2023 Fall/Winter Collection, Chanel has revealed a new handbag which the public has appropriately dubbed the Chanel Kelly Handle; this new Kelly Bag has already caused a frenzy throughout the population of luxury handbag lovers, with people queuing outside boutiques in the early morning hours to try and secure their own Chanel Kelly.

Let’s briefly travel back to the 1990s / 1980s, when the Chanel Kelly was first released in attempt to evoke a similar allure to the iconic Hermès Kelly. The original Chanel Kelly Bag consists of a symbolic top handle design, illustrating femininity, luxury & poise. You can still purchase the original Chanel Kelly Bag on the preloved / vintage market, and the bag is strong a favourite amongst vintage collectors. Fast forward to the present day, and the Kelly Bag has been revived through the new ‘Mini Shopping Bag’, where Chanel’s past meets modern fashion. The new Chanel Kelly Bag is available in 2 sizes, and further emphasise the fact that whilst ‘XL Bags’ took over for a short while, mini bags are definitely here to stay. Whilst mini bags may be impractical in some cases, they reinforce the current trend of minimalism, and that less is always more (especially when it comes to Chanel).
