From where our journey began in 2003, to date...
2003
We like to say the Handbag Angels 'Journey' began in 2003, when now Founding Director Lesley Stevenson received her very first designer handbag for her 40th birthday. The gift from her husband was a Mulberry East West Bayswater - a true reflection of English heritage, craftsmanship & quality. It was then in 2003 that Lesley's love for designer handbags began to flourish.
2004 - 2010
Lesley truly cherished each handbag which made it's way into her collection over the years, but held fears of damaging her handbags when in use; this then began a worldwide search to find the perfect solutions to protect her precious handbags.
Endless internet searches led Lesley to the almost unknown concept of a handbag insert, and was eager to try one out to protect her beloved handbags. Disappointingly, Lesley had to wait a long 6 weeks for the liner to be made, and an additional 3 weeks for delivery to her home in the UK.
Nonetheless, Lesley showed her new purchase to her husband, who immediately saw a new business opportunity...
2016
After years of deliberations, the husband & wife duo finally embarked on what was to become their 'handbag liner journey', and began to envision Handbag Angels together, from their home in the UK.
After the finest materials had been sourced, the colours chosen and their first 9 handbag liner sizes designed, Handbag Angels Ltd officially launched in 2016.
Lesley initially advertised the handbag liners on Facebook and sold them via Ebay, and after a lot of interest from across the UK, quickly realised that a Handbag Angels website was required.
2018
As sales began to increase, Handbag Angels moved into their very own premises where their team expanded. New handbag liner sizes for different handbag models were being designed each week, and each part of the design & make-up process was officially brought in house. By having total control over all aspects, Handbag Angels was able to offer a turnaround time like no other, of just 2-5 working days for their handbag liners. Customers worldwide praised the exceptional quality, attention to detail and delivery timeframe.
2019
In 2019, Lesley and the team reimagined the standard clutch bag by creating the original 'Conversion Kit'. The Handbag Angels Conversion Kits allowed individuals to get more use out of their favourite pouches, by safely transforming them into crossbody bags with a felt insert and chain.
Within weeks of launch, the Handbag Angels Conversion Kits became a worldwide best seller.
2020 - Today
After an unexpected spike in sales during the COVID 19 Pandemic, an elevated social media following and strong Google presence, Handbag Angels continues to send bespoke handbag liners to customers worldwide.
Each handbag liner size is a bespoke fit to each handbag, and there is no 'one size fits all'. Each order is still handmade to the customer's requirements with love, care and attention to detail in Lancashire, UK, and we truly can't wait for what's to come next...
