The term ‘Kirigami’ refers to a Japanese art form, involving cutting and folding paper into 3D shapes and designs. Louis Vuitton brought this style of art to life through their Kirigami Pochette, which consists of 3 envelope style pouches that fit inside each other like Russian Dolls. However, this Pouch style has been reinterpreted for 2024 through the brand new ‘Kirigami Organiser’. Original Kirigami Pochette Bag
The Original Kirigami Pochette Bag is crafted from the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas, and contains a Large, Medium & Small envelope pouch. The Large Kirigami can be used as a clutch bag or document holder, the Medium as a passport holder or purse and the Small a card holder. Many LV customers opt for the Kirigami as the perfect ‘first time purchase’, as it is only priced at £560 and you’re getting 3 pouches, for the price of 1!
After seeing the popularity of the Kirigami Pochette Bag upon its launch, we saw an opportunity to create Conversion Kits for the pouches so that customers could get better use out of them. We therefore designed the perfect felt insert and chain set, which allows you to easily and safely convert the Large & Medium Kirigami Pouches into beautiful crossbody bags. We would hate to leave anybody out, and even created a bag converter for the Small so that it can be turned into a handbag charm.
New Kirigami Organiser
During late 2024, Louis Vuitton launched the new Kirigami Organiser; this new style continues to symbolise the Japanese art form, but carries some differences from the ‘Original’. Louis Vuitton have designed the Kirigami Organiser to be a single, wallet like shape with removable inserts (it really reminds us of the iconic Pochette Felicie!) and offer a variety of interior colours to choose from. We picked up the Monogram Canvas Kirigami with a ‘Gaston Blue’ interior, and can confirm that the pouch fits an iPhone – YAY!
Of course, the first thing we did was go about designing a brand new Conversion Kit for the Kirigami Organiser. We feel that this new style looks much better as a crossbody bag than the Original Kirigami, and once we put it on a chain noted that it’s the perfect way to style the Pochette Felicie, for less. In order to use our Bag Converter Kit, all you need to do is insert the handbag liner, attach the chain to the holes, close your Kirigami and you’re all set! Order yours here.
In terms of colours, we would suggest ‘Regal Blue’ for Gaston Blue, ‘Hot Magenta’ for Pondicherry Pink and ‘Golden Yellow’ for Safran Yellow.
