Inside the Chanel Edinburgh Ehpemeral Boutique
We were lucky enough to receive an exclusive, VIP invitation to visit the new Chanel Edinburgh Ephemeral Boutique located in Charlotte Square. Chanel’s connection to Scotland dates back to founder Gabrielle ‘CoCo’ Chanel, who spent copious amounts of time up in the beautiful highlands. It was during her time spent in Scotland that CoCo was inspired to add tweed tailoring into her Chanel pieces, which is now featured in almost all new Chanel collections. The Ephemeral Boutique has opened in celebration of CoCo’s relationship with Edinburgh, a city that she adored, and has opened it’s doors for a short period of time.
It didn’t take us long to hop on a train for a short but sweet Scottish escape, to be amongst the first to see inside the new Chanel ‘pop up’ store. The Chanel Boutique is set inside a beautiful, listed building designed by Robert Adam, and consists of staff quarters, cellars and 3 sales floors filled with Chanel handbags, clothing, jewellery, watches and much much more. Advertising for the Ephemeral Boutique was kept to a minimum, with just one stand alone billboard in the entire city. Whilst Chanel Sales Assistants were granted very few time slots to hand out exclusive invitations to their top clients, walk ins were also welcome for the general public of Edinburgh.
The Chanel Edinburgh Boutique presented the 2022/2023 Métiers D’Art Collection, which paid homage to the Senegalese roots of Dakar – the location where the collection was first showcased on the runway. Tribal tones, vibrant prints, bold beads & sparkling sequins filled the collection, celebrating the colourful culture of Dakar.
Inside the building, the interior detailing was simply stunning. Spiral staircases, luxury fireplaces, ceilings that reminded us of the Palace of Versailles & picturesque views onto Edinburgh Grounds had us in awe, and we hadn’t even got to any handbags yet!
Here are some photographs we snapped up inside the Chanel Boutique, presenting some of the finest pieces from the Métiers D’Art Collection including Chanel handbags, jackets, shoes, jewellery & more…

After browsing all 3 floors of the Chanel Edinburgh Ephemeral Boutique, feasting our eyes on all of the delightful Métiers D’Art pieces and enjoying champagne & canapés along the way, we were left feeling very grateful to have been apart of the first to experience such a beautiful boutique. A memorable experience was had indeed, and of course, we couldn’t leave empty handed. Sadly no new handbag has joined the Handbag Angels Collection on this occasion, but we did restock on some Chanel Beauty essentials.
